Celebration Menus = K.I.S.S.(Keep It Simple, Sweethearts)

Most couples spend significant time and money on food and drinks…only to be shocked at how much is left-over to pack up or (worse) throw away at the end of the night! At The Abbey Estate, we’ve seen our share of wasted treats and tonics. When planning your menu, keep in mind…

TIMING IS EVERYTHING
If you serve heavy appetizers just 30 minutes before your amazing dinner buffet, guess who isn’t going to be very hungry for that expensive filet? Space out your refreshments so that guests will enjoy a well-paced offering of refreshments.

GUESTS AREN’T GLUTTONS
Your party is for several hours - not an entire day. There’s only so much food guests are able to consume in a few hours! If you plan heavy appetizers…a large buffet…fruit displays…a candy bar…a donut wall…after-dancing snacks…s’mores by the bonfire…and your centerpiece cake - you’re going to end up with A LOT of leftovers.

DON’T DROWN IN DRINKS
Wine, beer, mixed drinks, water bottles, sodas, punch, lemonade, iced-teas, coffee-bars, hot cocoa bars, hot tea stations, warmed cider crocks, champagne toasts…and don’t forget all of the special cups, heating/cooling elements, serving containers and extra condiments (sliced fruits, mixers, cream/sugar, tiny marshmallows, etc.) that go with each! Make your life easy and your pocketbook light…limit your beverage choices!

STOP COMPETING WITH THE CAKE(s)
A beautiful Wedding Cake… a fun Groom's Cake. That’s when someone will innocently mention, “Not everyone likes cake.” Before you know it, you’ve added a dessert bar with assorted pies, cookies, tarts and candy platters. If you don’t want to pack or trash lots of cake, consider eliminating competing treats or down-sizing your frosted layers.
